ABB Robotstudio course
Robotica Osloensis would be holding and introduction to ABB Robotstudio next week. This course would be hold at 16:00 on 27th of Aprial in Lisp (room number:2428) on the 2nd floor of Ole Johan Dahl’s building, where all computers have the Robotstudio installed. Students could also download the trial version on their own computer.

In this course we would go through the basics of Robotstudio and ABB’s RAPID programming language (robot controller programming language). We would try to create a station and get it to do what we intend to do. The lecture of this course would be Akbar F. Moghaddam (Shahab) with M.Sc. in Robotics an other intelligent systems from ROBIN group at IFI. Currently he works with ABB robots and Robotstudio as a simulation tool at Norsk Titanium Components.

Introduction to Max MSP
Robotica Osloensis presents Introduction to Max MSP on Wednesday 18th of April at 17:00. The workshop would be hold at Ole Johan Dahls hus (University of Oslo, Departments of Informatics), 3rd floor, Algol room (3408). The lecturer would be Boye Riis founder of “Smartski” and earlier researcher at ROBIN group.

What is Max MSP?
Max is a visual programming language for music and multimedia developed and maintained by San Francisco-based software company Cycling ‘74. It’s a rapid prototyping tool which let us focus on the problem instead of complicated implementations. The Max program itself is highly modular, with most routines existing in the form of shared libraries. An API allows third-party development of new routines. As a result, Max has a large user base of programmers not affiliated with Cycling ‘74 who enhance the software with commercial and non-commercial extensions to the program. Because of its extensible design and graphical interface (which in a novel way represents the program structure and the GUI as presented to the user simultaneously), Max has been described as the lingua franca for developing interactive music performance software.

Robotica @IFI Åpen dag 2012
Robotica along with other student communities tried to present informatics student daily life for high school students visiting University of Oslo. In this presentation we tried to show how it is fun to both learn new things, study further and use them in practice to have fun
In our stand at Escape cafe-bar, we presented a number of local projects at our student community such as football robots, mobile gripper and robot arms kits. We got a very good feedback generally on all of our presentation and specially on football robot first generation rapid prototypes (project page, worklog) and caught attention of most of the visitors. This is a success for Robotica and departments of informatics, as our common goal is to show informatics study programs can be fun and practical.

3Pi Robots
With this post we just want to let our members know about our 5 3Pi robots which are available to all our members in the lab. We would soon have a workshop about how to work with these robots as well, but for those who want to start right away there are a plenty of tutorials online (check the links after the image in this post).
The Pololu 3pi robot is a complete, high-performance mobile platform featuring two micro metal gearmotors, five reflectance sensors, an 8×2 character LCD, a buzzer, and three user pushbuttons, all connected to a C-programmable ATmega328 microcontroller (same as Arduino). Capable of speeds exceeding 3 feet per second.
Merry Christmas

God jul fra Robotica
